Taxcript is not open yet, so nothing on this page is a contract. It describes, in plain language, how the product is meant to work. Final terms will be published here before anyone can use it.
What Taxcript does
It asks you plain questions about your year, works out an estimate of what you owe or get back in federal tax and in state tax, and shows you where each figure came from. It is free to use, and it never asks for your Social Security number.
What Taxcript does not do
It does not send anything to the IRS or to any state. You file yourself, or hand the estimate to a preparer. It is not a law firm, an accountancy firm, or a registered tax preparer, and using it does not make us your accountant or your lawyer. Where an answer genuinely depends on professional judgement, it tells you so instead of guessing.
What you are responsible for
The figures you enter, and the return you eventually file. An estimate from Taxcript is a starting point for that, not a finished return, and you should check it against your own documents before relying on it. If something looks wrong to you, it may well be — and a professional is the right person to settle it.
Accuracy, and what we cannot promise
We build this carefully and test it heavily, but tax law is complicated, it changes, and an estimate can still be wrong. So we do not promise that any figure here is correct, and you should not treat it as the only basis for what you file. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for tax, interest, penalties, or other loss arising from your use of Taxcript or from an estimate being wrong. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Money
Taxcript is free. There is nothing to pay, no card is collected, and no paid feature exists. If that ever changes, this page changes first, and you decide before paying anything.
The waitlist
If you have joined the waitlist, we hold your email address to tell you when Taxcript opens, and for nothing else. What we store, how long we keep it, and how to remove it are set out in the privacy policy.
Changes to this page
We may update this page as the product changes. When we do, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. We do not send email at all yet, so this page is the place to check.
Before we open
The company that will operate Taxcript, and the law that will govern these terms, will be named on this page before the product opens.
