Nobody is born knowing how US taxes work.

What we are building / Who are we building it for?

  • A clean, comprehensive PDF summary of your year — organised for your own records, or ready to hand to whoever files for you.

  • A guided interview instead of a form. Plain questions about your year, one at a time, and a clear tax picture at the end of them.

  • A review before you finish, rather than a number at the end. It shows what is worth checking, where you came close to a credit without getting it, and anything you could still do that would change the figure.

Nobody hands you an explanation of the US tax system. You are expected to arrive already knowing it — and that falls hardest on the people meeting it for the first time.

  • You have just moved to the US, and this is the first time you have filed here.

  • You have just turned 18, and nobody has ever sat down and done this with you.

  • You are paid without a W-2, so nothing is withheld along the way and the whole calculation is yours.

A freelance designer. A weekend delivery driver. A digital creator. Someone running an independent project of their own. Whatever your work looks like, understanding your taxes should be clear, calm and open to everyone.

What we do about it

  • Plain questions about your year, instead of a form that assumes you already know the words printed on it.

  • Every figure is shown with where it came from, so you can check it rather than take it on trust.

  • Federal and state are worked out separately and never added together — they are two different answers to two different questions.

  • It is free to use, and it never asks for your Social Security number.

What we do for underserved communities

  • Three languages, all the way through. Not just this page — the questions, the warnings and the summary you download are all in English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese.

  • It works if you file with an ITIN. It knows an ITIN is not a Social Security number, says plainly which credits that rules out and which you can still claim, and warns you if yours may have expired.

  • No card is collected at any point, and it never asks for your Social Security number. Cost and paperwork are the two things that stop people getting help, so neither is here.

  • Where it cannot work something out — a state we have not built yet — it says so and shows you nothing, rather than a zero that looks like an answer.

In your language

  • Plain-language help with your taxes, in English.
  • Ayuda con tus impuestos en lenguaje claro, en español.
  • 用简单的语言帮你处理税务,支持简体中文。
